So, where did 7 Worlds come from anyway? Why this book? Why now? Why am I running with this book? Let's see if I can shed some light on that. But first, some bits of Art.
When 2016 started, I knew my Life was going to change. I was getting married (done did that). I was gonna move to a new town (done gone and done that). And because finding a new job sucks, I knew I was gonna be commuting through the week for awhile (currently doing that). All of that added up to a simple truth: I was only going to be able to do one comic. Just one. There wouldn't be time for multiple books. Sometimes, there wouldn't be time for the one book. This is Truth.
But there is another Truth, and that Truth is this, and it is a Two-fold Truth: I have to make comics, and I can't just make one comic. This too is Truth. I have 16 years of comic making under my belt. I've had my ups, and I've had my downs. I've thought about quitting from time to time. Never have, because I don't wanna. It's not in me to quit this thing. Comics are my blood. I bleed India Ink (and Hot Sauce... that's not even a joke, my blood is spicy). And I always have ideas. New ideas. Strange ideas. Cool ideas. Always, always, always. And that's why I can't do one book at a time. Sometimes Three isn't enough.
So, how do I solve this Conundrum? At first, I figured I'd just accept things as they were, just do "The Hot Fudge Sundae Adventure Club", and that would be that. But as I was getting ready to get Married... well, you know how it goes. There's stress. There's nerves. You freak out. I dealt with it the only way I know how to deal with anything, I made comics. And what I came up with was an odd little thing I called "7 Worlds Week". One week, 7 pages of comics from 7 different worlds. Try new stuff. Y'know, have fun.
I did my thing, and that was gonna be that. I wouldn't have time to do 7 different comics. I was gonna do one comic, and that comic was gonna be "The Hot Fudge Sundae Adventure Club". Simple as that. Except, I got some pretty good feedback on 7 Worlds Week. Good feedback. I don't get much feedback, and on the rare occasion I do get feedback, it's usually not immediate (half the time I find out someone liked a book years after I cancelled it). So, I started thinking about 7 Worlds. And the more I thought about 7 Worlds, the more I liked 7 Worlds.
The answer came when I realized that I didn't need to do 7 Worlds as a series of 7 Books, I could do 7 Worlds as 1 book. 1 book with 7 stories in 7 worlds. The answer to my Conundrum. 1 Book that's actually 7 Books. A full spectrum of my Mind and Personality. Ultimo World is my Big, Epic, Spiritual Journey full of Explosions and Giants. Super World is me doing a little Traditional Superhero style action and face-punching and lasers and robots and dinosaurs. Lost World is a Dream, and you know how I love to dream. Broken World is a Nightmare, and I have to explore my Dark Side from time to time, even if I am working All Ages nowadays. Story World lets me do the Sword & Sorcery thing if I wanna. Toon World lets me have fun with Traditional Style Comic Strips and create something the polar opposite of most of the other worlds. And Dolphin World... well sometimes you just want to create something that's better than anything that's ever been created ever.
So, yeah, that's why 7 Worlds. The first issue is available in the Store on this very site. Just click on the Store Link above.
