At the beginning of the year I got on a Gnome kick. Dunno why. Dunno how. I just got weirdly obsessed with Gnomes. So I started making these little Gnome comics. If you follow me on Patreon or Facebook you've seen some of them I'm sure. The artwork on the main page of this site, as well as the little image bar above are from the cover of the first collection of my weird little Gnome Comics, Wildcap Gnomes. It's 44 pgs in B&W with a Glossy Color Cover, perfect bound. It's $16 and is available directly from the Printer, Mixam, through their Print on Demand program. It's a fun book, with about a half dozen short stories featuring Gnomes singing and dancing and killing fascists and eating mushrooms. If that sounds like fun, you can score a copy at: mixam.com/print-on-demand/67d9be8552240173f587d73b

Other than that, I'm currently working on a little something called "The Stag". And I'm still trying to decide what I want to do over on the Patreon as a daily feature.

I'll be at SPACE in Columbus, OH next month. Pretty excited!

<![CDATA[Hey Ho, Let's Go...]]>Thu, 20 Mar 2025 17:40:27 GMThttp://torcpress.com/blog/hey-ho-lets-go
After years of pushing myself very, very hard as a comics publisher, it was around February of last year that I suffered arguably the worst case of burn out of my life, and I've kinda just been blundering around ever since. I don't really do much with my website, and my Patreon seems to come and go (thankfully I have a loyal core of Readers who put up with me, otherwise I probably would have given up on that by now). Having two toddlers certainly doesn't help with all of it, not to mention ADHD and living in... sigh... Interesting times. It's a lot.

Recently though, I feel like I'm starting to come out of it, starting to focus up a bit again. One of the things I stopped doing was viewing "Comics as a Real Job". This has always been my Secret Sauce, the thing that makes me what I am. Basically, one day in my early 20s when I was killing myself working at my Dad's Sawmill, I realized I was giving 100% to a Job I Hated, and yet I was giving 10% to Comics, the Thing I supposedly Loved. So I made the decision that even if Comics made me No Money, I would give it 100% to Comics as if it was a Real Job. But last year I just decided I could no longer keep up that pace anymore, so I stopped.

But maybe it's time to start doing it for Real again. Time to stop blundering around blindly and start doing the Job again.

One of the things I've been doing is my Monthly Comic/Newsletter/Catalogue the TORC Toons Digest. I've been using it to continue Quixote Coyote, as well as using it to publish some of the "lost" comics that other artists have drawn based on my Scripts.

I'm trying to post regular content on my Patreon. I'm not entirely sure what I'll be doing there yet, but I'm thinking about it.

As for this website, this Blog is the start of me actually doing something with it. I'd like to maybe do a weekly Blog here on this site, where I talk about my ideas and plans. For awhile now, this site has primarily been a life support system for my STORE. I'd like to do more content on this site, make it more than just my shop.

I was working on Collecting my Work in Permanent Collected Editions through Amazon, but recent events have caused me to Pivot away from Amazon. Although all of my collections are still available through Amazon, I'm making plans to move away from Beezos's Monstrosity. I'll be talking about that more in the future.

I'm also working on an idea that just came to me. Something simple, but also, hopefully, something fun.

So, a Weekly Blog here on this Website, Weekday Content on Patreon, a Monthly Comic Newsletter, a handful of Collected Editions every year, and a couple of Mystery Projects.

It's time to get back to the Job.
