TORC Comics feat. Dolphin Bros! Above, new Quixote Coyote below. Commentary at: www.patreon.com/posts/torc-comics-bros-19326233
I'm posting this on both my Website Blog and the Patreon, so pardon me if this Post comes off as a little confusing. Just bear with me.
Despite my best efforts, I've been a little frustrated lately. I work hard at this Comics Thing. Really hard. And I have a Readership, a great, loyal, vocal readership who seem to genuinely enjoy what I'm doing, and I am Thankful for that. If you are a Patreon supporter and you are reading this on Patreon, or if you're one of my Readers that can't really afford Patreon, but you buy my Books when they become available, your support means so much to me. It keeps me going on my off days and inspires me to work harder and create cool stuff. I really feel like I am doing the best work of my entire career right now. I think Quixote Coyote is really clicking, and the COSMINOMICON may be the best thing I've ever done. So, why can't I ever seem to grow my Readership? What am I doing wrong? Why do I seem to only pick up one new Reader every two or three years when I'm doing good work? Well, I've been talking to my Wife (who is much smarter than me), and we've got some ideas for some stuff. It'll take some time to get all the Puzzle Pieces into place, but we've got some ideas regardless. In the meantime, I'm going to take some more time to do some of the business things I need to do. For example, I finally added "7Worlds" #10 and "COSMINOMICON" #4 to the online store on both the main TORC Press Website and the Storenvy back-up site. IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are reading this, and you were at SPACE or Free Comic Book Day, you probably already have these comics, so don't worry about the new books. If you didn't see me at those shows, um, New Books available. I've also made some changes to the main TORC Press Site, adding a Section that explains all the books I'm doing and points people to the Patreon Site and the Storenvy Store. So, that's a thing. Other than that, I've recently made some decisions about the work I'm doing. I have divided my work into two "camps". The TORC Press work is what I would consider my "Commercial" work. Comics for fun and entertainment. My work in this category would be "7Worlds", the "Quixote Coyote" daily strip, and "TORC Comics". All of these comics I Post for Free, so I'm going to go back to putting my primary focus on those strips. "COSMIONOMICON" and "Pulp Horrorshow" fall into the camp I'm calling "The Auroboros Cycle". This is what I consider the "Real Work", my personal, bizarre autobiography. This is my Art. It's Patreon exclusive (pre-print). I won't be putting either of these books on a regular schedule anymore. I will simply post a page when one is complete. Also, although I will be doing a physical copy of "Pulp Horrorshow" #1, from here on out I won't be doing regular issues of either of these books (the plan is to go straight to TPB with these, but we'll see how things go). Anyway, I am hopefully going to be trying new things, new approaches, trying to find new ways to find the people that dig my type of work. We'll see how things go. If anyone's got any thoughts or suggestions, please let me know. |
