![]() Before things get weird, I wanted to show "A Day in the Life" of the Ultra Dolphin Bros. Now, I admit, "Weird" is a relative term when you're referring to a comic about two talking dolphins attempting to rescue a dolphin princess from a deranged monkey king riding on a cloud, but let me assure you, this probably will seem normal the deeper we get into this series.
Now, the important question: Why is Porp Red all of a sudden? The simple answer is that Porp is Red because I don't spend months planning and preparing a new series, I just dive in and let it evolve as I go. The more complex answer is that I just didn't like the dull grey color I gave him initially, and decided to go with Red because of this weird Blue/Red Color Scheme thing I developed purely on accident. Check it: UltimoWorld: Clown (Blue)/Jester (Red) SuperWorld: Blue Athena (Blue (duh))/SOL (Red and yellow and orange and gold, okay, sometimes it's a stretch) LostWorld: AliceIsLost (Blue)/Lilly Hood (Red) BrokenWorld: Bandersnatch (Blue (well, his suit is a light blue))/JubJub Bird (Red... the Jaegerwok is Red as well, for the record) StoryWorld: Bearskin (Blue)/Foxy Loxy (Red (well, Orange, whatever, didn't say it was perfect)) ToonWorld: Quixote Coyote (Blue)/Sancho Roadrunner (Red) So, logically, Porp should've been Red this whole time. Also, it makes him stand out more.

I think I mentioned this previously, but we will be running reruns of Quixote Coyote here on the Blog every Tuesday and Friday until we run out of reruns. Then I plan on introducing new strips. Time for one of my Rambling Explanations! Woo-Hoo!
"AMIGOS!" started out as me just messing around with some artwork, which turned into a webcomic designed exclusively for my Patreon Supporters, which turned into a massive epic that I'm really excited about. For years I had been attempting to develop the Mickey/Donald/Goofy of the TORCverse (or if that's not Geek enough for you, the Superman/Batman/Wonder Woman). I already had my Flagship Character, Cactus Joe the Clown, but I didn't have two successful Solo Characters who could match him. I finally achieved success with this Quest a few years back with the creation of the Death Moth and Octopus Jones. Between the three of them, I finally had that spectrum I needed. God/Devil/Mortal. Positive/Negative/Neutral. Light/Dark/Medium. They were perfect. They worked great as solo acts, and they worked great together. So, I found myself wanting to tell a big epic story with these guys, beyond the realm of my Flagship Book "7 Worlds". AMIGOS!!! became that story. Each issue of Amigos focuses on a different member of my little Trio. Issue 1 stars Octopus Jones, Issue 2 the Death Moth, and Issue 3 The Clown. If I can keep this going, Issue 4 will restart the pattern, focusing on Octopus Jones, and so on and so forth until I have told the story I plan to tell. The Octopus Jones Issue of AMIGOS!!! (aka Issue 1) is currently exclusive to Patreon Subscribers (only a buck a month...), and new pages drop every Monday like Clockwork. Meanwhile, on Thursday, a new page of either Issue 2 (featuring the Death Moth) or Issue 3 (featuring the Clown & the Clown's eternal companion, Pengy Penguin) will be released here on the TORC Press BLOG. So, there you go. Now for Issue 2, Page 1: I just couldn't stop myself. I was just gonna do "7 Worlds". That was it. Just one book. Then I was like, eh, I'll just do "Amigos" occasionally. It'll be a nice thing for my supporters on Patreon. No biggie. Then, I was like, just every so often I'll do the Black n' White "Quixote Coyote" strip. That'll be all. No problem. I don't need to do anything else.
Then the idea for "Cosmic Love" exploded in my head like an explosion in my head, and now I'm doing that one on most Wednesdays. I'm an addict. A Comics Addict. So, what is "Cosmic Love" you ask? It's a Comic about the Ultra Dolphin Bros. Now, me just typing those words should have anyone reading this going, "Good enough. I'm sold." Other than it being a new Dolphin Bros strip independent of "7 Worlds", it's a burning neon cosmic story about healing the broken heart of the Multiverse. I would say it will make more sense as I go, but I assure you, it will not. That's okay, you're gonna love it. Ironically, the first page isn't really part of the story, it's a leftover page from a possible Dolphin Bros strip that never materialized. Having said that, I really liked this page, so I colored it up and recycled it. The true adventure begins next Wednesday. Till then, here's (sorta) Page One... I've decided it's time to bring back the Quixote Coyote Black & White strip. There was some interest in a revival, and I want to, so I'm gonna. Quixote Coyote strips will be going up here on the Blog every Tuesday and Friday. They'll be reruns for awhile, which will hopefully give me the time I need to "Bank" some strips. If you like Quixote Coyote and want to support the strip, please consider a monthly pledge to my Patreon at www.patreon.com/josephmorris_torcpress
A couple of years ago, just for the fun of it, I started a daily, black & white comic strip called "Quixote Coyote". It was fun, and I got some good responses. I kept it going for awhile, but then the Wedding, the Move, and the Adjustment got in the way. I discontinued the strip. Quixote Coyote didn't get lost though. I folded him into my comic series "7 Worlds", where he and his friends continue to be very popular. And they get to have their adventures in Color, so that's a plus.
As you probably know, I'm once again working on the impossible task of trying to make a living as a Comic Book Creator. Specifically, I would like to make a living off of TORC Press, although I'm not making that my sole focus. When I resumed my mountain climb, one of the first things I did was reinstate my Patreon. Needing content for the Patreon in hopes that people would pledge to it, I started putting up reruns of the old Quixote Coyote Black & White strips. But after a couple of weeks, the Business Man in me (hahahaha!) thought, "I shouldn't revive the Quixote Coyote strip unless there's an audience for it". So, I set a Goal on the Patreon, that if I got enough Monthly Pledges to get to $20 (approximately the cost to produce the strip weekly), then I would resume the strip. But some time has passed and I've kinda found myself missing the strip. Mei wants me to at least finish the "Three Nights in a Haunted House" story. The Business Man in me has already started to run out of steam, and the Artist with the Burning Heart has been getting louder lately. I kinda want to resume the strip, even if the Patreon isn't even near my Goal. But, I don't want to resume it if there's no audience for it. If the strip makes people happy, then I would be happy to pick it back up again, although I'll probably just run it on Monday and Friday (kinda like how Terry Flippo runs his awesome strip "Axel & Alex") (unless I meet my Patreon goal, in which case I'll run it Monday THROUGH Friday). So, long story short, if you like the Black & White "Quixote Coyote" strip, let me know, either here on the Blog, or on Facebook, or through email or whatever. If ten people enjoy the strip and want to see it return, I'll bring it back. Simple as that. |
